Ive done some research and it is possible. but I need directions. I am new to cycling of all things.

If you have a single freewheel, it needs a special tool needed, and some know how to remove the hub. Once removed, you can buy a piece together with the same number of teeth and a retaining ring and screw in the hub. You should replace the wheel and everything will be okay. This is not an excellent job, but if the tools, it is better to have a bike shop. I hope that helps.
